ការអស្ចារ្យក្នុងកិច្ចការផ្សព្វផ្សាយសាសនា(The Great Missionary Work)

Hello Everyone!

Monday:

We had FHE with Om Siat's family! We shared with them in DC 78:19 about gratitude you know because it's Thanksgiving and all! It was so good though the Senior Couple came and we played a game and all went around and talked about the blessing that we had and what we are grateful for. And all I could think about was how grateful I was to be here in Cambodia surrounded by these amazing people that I love so much! I am so grateful that the Lord called me to come here! I honestly thank him everyday! I love it here so much.... it makes me so sad that it's coming to an end... Literally less then a month... and November flew by.... ahhhh!!!! It's crazy.....
FHE

Service Project

Tuesday:

We saw Bong Mom and taught her about the gospel of Jesus Christ and committed her to a baptismal date of the 17th of December... she is so excited to be baptized.... she has beleived in Christ a really long time but just hasn't had the chance to learn! So she has been waiting for this a long time!
Then we saw Thera and taught her about the Apostasy and the Savior's Ministry.... I love sharing about the Savior and his life! It's one of my favorites!

Wednesday:

We went to KampoegSpeu with the Ministry of Environment to clean road #4 and they taught a little bit about waste collection. After they taught about waste collection we cleaned up the road. It was good! It's something really important to teach about here in Cambodia... because Cambodia itself is beautiful, it's just there is trash everywhere! So the Ministry is trying to teach the children so that the future will be better/cleaner!

After that we saw Srei Phip, Srei Leak, and Lena some of our Young Women in the ward, we taught them about repentance. It was really good we used the writing you name with a permanent marker on the white board analogy. So we had Srei Phip write her name and try to erase it, but she couldn't... we told her that that is like our sin, and then we gave her a white board marker and she wrote over her name.. .this is the atonement... after using the marker 2 or 3 times ( you have to use the Atonement more then once.) She was able to erase her name! We testified that it is only through the atonement that we can be cleansed from our sins. They seemed to really enjoy the lesson.

Thursday:

We saw Monika and taught her about the Word Of Wisdom and Law Of Chastity, she drinks coffee and tea, but she committed to stop and follow the word of wisdom! Her faith is amazing!
Then we saw a new investigator Ming Po and taught her about prayer! She is a neighbor of Om Siat's and wanted to learn a little more about the church. She is really interested!
We saw Bong Mom and taught her 10 commandments, WOW, and LOC and she already follows all of them! Wow, talk about already prepared!

Friday:

Monika we saw her again, and we taught her about fasting and tithing and she committed to follow it!
Bong Po she is a new investigator, Sister Ormax contacted her earlier in the week. She was interested in learning and we taught her about prayer, she doesn't really know what to think yet... she is worried if her husband finds out that she is learning.... he is Buddist. She committed to try to pray! I know that when she does... she will want to learn more. There really is real power that comes from prayer!
Then that night we had training for the new missionaries that came in last week! President talked to them about studies and the difference of being an accidental disciple and a deliberate disciple... and I can honestly say that at the being of my mission I was an accidental disciple... the only reason I was doing what I was doing was because of the amazing examples I had in my family..all the missionaries we have in our family... just everyone... I was just running off of your testimonies... but . I am so grateful I came out here and found out just what we are members of this church! It's amazing that's why! Where else do we have priesthood power that can seal our families together for time and all eternity where else can we find joy in repenting of our sins where else can we find a Savior that died for us so that we could live again! I love this gospel and my mission! It's helped me become more of a deliberate disciple! Seriously tho I can't thank you all enough though for always being amazing examples to me! THANK YOU!

Saturday:

We had training with the new missionaries... after it was over I said goodbye to some of the Elders that were in my MTC group because it will be the last time I see them before I go to America... super weird!
Thanksgiving

After that we saw Bong Mom who is good... we taught her about the Sabbath day... and she is so ready to be baptized it's just her job is terrible... her job is that she is a body guard at a bar... she literally acts like a camera. She stands for 7 hours and she says her eyes just move back and forth... she told us it's just like a camera... and she has to work on Sunday... we committed her to pray for guidance and help. She comes to church it's just she has to go to different wards and branches a lot. I know it will work out though! One of the things I love about Bong Mom is that she is this buff body guard and on the outside you would think she is a little scary, but she is just this huge teddy bear! She has such a soft heart, and just wants to be loved! She is such a sweet heart!

Sunday:

MIRACLE SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know if it's the Christmas season or what but these miracles just keep coming. So we had our stake conference today, and our new investigator came, Monika's mom came, and Om Siat brought another person that wanted to learn. So she gave us a referral! I translated for the Senior Couple during the Conference they talked a lot about inviting others to come unto Christ! We had members from the international branch speak as well... it was the first time I have heard some of church in English for 16 months.... it was kind of weird haha!
Obviously a hard worker.

After Stake Conference we taught Monika and her mom. Turns out Monika fasted. We literally taught her about it two days before and she told us she wanted to try it! Wow, words cannot express the faith that Monika has... she told us the reason that she did it was to help her family... Her mom was just in tears when she talked about her family life... she said that the neighbors hate her and look down on her family because they are poor.... and right now she is working everyday so that her kids can learn and have a better life then she did.... Ming Sophia (monika's mom) has so much love for her kids....Sister Ormax and I, both in tears , testified about just how much her Father in Heaven loves her and doesn't want her to suffer... Ming promised to start praying everyday! She told us she loves coming to church because she just feels love and peace, and for a minute she just escapes from the world!

After church we went and saw two more new investigators that the Viet Sisters contacted.... Bong Chenda and Bong Chiang. They both were interested and we taught them how to pray! We are going to see them next week and teach them lesson 2!

Then we saw Om Siat's referral her name is Bong Vanna, and turns out she has a 19 year old daughter Navi who has a bible and has been learning with another church. We taught both of them about the Restoration and how Joseph restored the priesthood and the only true church to the earth! The both were in amazement! Man, the gospel is just so amazing! It really just ties everything together so it all makes sense! We gave them a BOM and are going to see them on Tuesday!

So at this point me and Sister Ormax and just feeling super grateful and asking ourselves why is God so good? So many miracles? I mean 5 new investigators in one day! Come on! So cool! But that wasn't the end!

We went to see Om Sen and there was this Bong standing out the door, and I went and talked to her and this is how the conversation when! Bong Lena "you are Christian right?" Me " Yeah we are missionaries, so you've heard about Christ before?" Lena, "Yeah but I do not completely understand who he is or what he has done." Me " Well do you want to understand" Bong "Yes" Me "Are you free right now" Bong "yeah sure come in"

SO AWESOME her name is Bong Lena and she just got married, she learned about Christ a little bit when she was little... We taught her how to pray and asked her what she wanted in this life, she told us good health and confidence is enough for her. We shared with her Ether 12:27 about how our weaknesses can become strong! She agreed to meeting us again on Tuesday! WOW SO MANY MIRACLES!!! 6 new investigators in one day...it's so amazing... that is it for this week but I love being a missionary and seeing miracles and God's hand in my life!!

hey Tyler happy birthday last week!!! LOVE YOU!!!You are awesome thanks for always being a great example!

I love all of you and hope you had a great week!!!

អព្ភូតហេតុ(Miracles)

Hello Everyone!

Monday:

Nothing really too exciting just a meeting to get ready for transfers

Tuesday:

We had District Meeting and didn't end up seeing anyone because it was water festival and it was insane! Haha everyone was either selling or partying!

Wednesday:

We had some random jobs we had to do to get ready for transfers and we had English class!
English Class

Thursday:

We saw Srei Leak in the morning and talked about our baptismal covenant.. we shared Mosiah 5:7-8 with her, and talked about covenants and becoming children of God. It went really well. so here is a fun fact now we have a Carls Jr.'s in Cambodia... you would think it would be great right... no wrong... it's terrible... this is the reason because now Srei Leak and 2 other of our YW in CTM are working there and they have to work on Sunday... come on Carl... really? Sister Ormax and I just looked at each other after the lesson and were like... man I hate Carls Jr... oh the struggles...
After that we saw Monika and talked about keeping the sabbath holy she is really progressing! She even had a scripture to share with us this time from her reading over the past couple of days. It was awesome seeing as only like a month ago she didn't even know what verse meant and what scriptures were! It's amazing to see how much she has progressed!
Then we got ready for transfers.

Friday:

TRANSFERS! wow last transfer of the mish... kind of crazy... We taught in the new leadership meeting and then after that we went out teaching wahoo finally were both super excited and a little stir crazy we couldn't wait to get out and teach! And that's when the miracles happened.

Alright Miracle #1`
We saw Om Sokha and just reviewed about scripture study with her and then after that we had the thought to go meet an LA... we tried to call her and she didn't pick up... in fact she rejected it... but we still feel like we needed to go see her... so we are heading to her house and we have an old investigator that lives next to her house and we always look for her when we are there but she is never home... but sure enough she is just sitting outside of her house and when she sees us she gets super excited and is like Sisters sit down!!! So we sit down and talk to her and she tells us that she has been trying to get ahold of us... these past few months have been really hard and she really wanted to meet us but she couldn't get in contact with us... so she had been praying to meet us... and then we just happened to swing by her house at the only time she was free... wow miracles... .we shared in 2 Nephi 26:25 with her about salvation, and then committed to a new life... we committed her to be baptized and she accepted... she said she would go to church on sunday! Alright so that was miracle #1.

Miracle #2
So we saw a Less Active her name is Om He and she has not been to church since we got here, and we shared the same scripture with her about salvation and we told her that if she truly wants salvation she has to find the means to go to church... then literally right after we tell her that we get a phone call from a member telling us that she can't meet us tonight.... Om He says hey let me talk to her... talks to her for like a minute... hangs up and says "alright sisters I will see you at church on Sunday Ming Sarom is going to come get me." Wow!! I mean come on how cool is that literally right after we get done telling her she has to figure out the means to go... our member calls!

Miracle #3

Om Siat our RC who is really poor started rented her room upstairs so now she has an income! It may seem small but this really is a huge miracle and we are super excited for her because renting out the room is what will give her enough money to give her grandchild milk every week!
She has been working on this room for a really long time!

Miracle #4
We get home and start planning talking about the miracles that had happened then the maid from downstairs comes up to look at our AC... we start talking to her and she asked us a question which I thought was super cool she said "I see you both come in and out all of the time and I always think... how are they so happy... I never see you upset... I want to know why you are so happy all of the time" We told her the reason we are so happy is because we know that we have a Savior and that he lives... She told us that she was interested in learning but she wanted some time to think about it first... She really wants happiness... and I know that the gospel is the way she is going to find it!

Saturday:

We saw Ming Somat and talked to her about family history... we started helping her with it.. at first she didn't want to do it at all... but we started with her and she couldn't stop writing.. especially when she got to her mom... she stopped and looked and us, and then wrote an entire page about her mom who passed away.. they were very close... the spirit was there.. all I can say is that the spirit of Elijah is real... She stopped and looked us in tears... and we talked about how grateful we are that in God's plan our loved ones are not really lost.

Okay so another miracle we went out with our RS president to go to visit some less actives... and we went to Ming Juen's house who is an LA of 10 years... so we go up to see her, and she is sitting there making food... she says hello to us, and then she sees Ming Sophat... she screams jumps up and runs over and give Ming a huge hug... they were both soooo happy. It was literally like watching the prodigal son right before my eyes! They were so excited to see each other I mean they haven't seen each other in 10 years! I just wanted to cry watching it... you know all the members really are family...

Sunday:

Alright so the miracle of Sunday I call up Monika to see if she is coming to church and she says yeah I am then she asked me if I wanted to talk to her mom... I was like sure why not! Then after talking to her mom for a few minutes she said she would come to church! and sure enough the both came to sacrament! So hopefully we can start teaching them both!!! Super amazing!

Then we had FHE with the Ovelson's they came and helped us with an FHE at Om Sokha's house... it was super good we talked about how to have love and sprit in our home!
FHE

Yep well that was my week! Lots of miracles it makes me really grateful I get to be apart of this amazing work! Love you all!

Have a good week!!!

My week Trumps yours- title credit: Sister Cheney

Hello Everyone!

Monday:

We had a little get together at Carls Jr. Hey it's actually pretty good... I remember complaining about fast food hamburgers and stuff before the mish, and dad said "just wait to you get out on your mish then any American food will be good... yep dad was right... Other then that we just had a meeting with President.

Tuesday:

We went up to KC and did an exchange. I went with Sister Gallahad and Sister Chin... we went and taught a lesson to an investigator about obedience, prayer, and scriptures and related it all back to Joseph Smith! It was really good! I love how everything in the gospel just ties together! The investigator really enjoyed it! Then we found and talk a LA about prayer... she is having a really hard time right now... her daughter who is a member decided that she was going to leave her son with her mom. So now Ming is taking care of her grandson... we talked to her about prayer and how she is not alone and doesn't have to do this alone... she just burst into tears... and promised that she would start to pray! My heart goes out to her... that would be so hard... she just feels like she is on her own right now... but she isn't! God is right there all she needs to do is ask for help!

Wednesday:

We just came back up from the exchange in KC, and had some meetings, and English class!

Thursday:

We taught our investigator Moneka lesson 3. We focused on repentance and baptism! She started reading the Book of Mormon and is praying everyday! I am really excited for her she really has a desire to learn!

Then I went on an Exchange with Sister Cook! She is amazing she is a new missionary just getting out of her training! She is awesome I learned a lot from her! I can't believe she is still in training, she is so good! We contacted a girl while we were waiting for her investigator to pass her baptismal interview.. and the girl wanted to learn, so after the interview was over we taught her how to pray... then after the lesson... two other potential investigators walked in so we started over and taught them how to pray as well!

Then after we saw an investigator and taught her lesson 3... then she asked us."sisters I love my parents and worry about them... if we can't go to the watt what can we do for them.." Such a good question! We ended up teaching her about temple work and family history! She loved it and she wanted to start right then! I love it! I love how the gospel just ties families together! Ties them together for the eternities :)

Friday:

We finished up the exchange and then went and saw Bishop we shared with him about Alma teaching his son Helaman about repentance and sharing his conversion story. Bishop LOVED the scripture! He was like "Sister's I want to share this gospel with all the people here in Cambodia.. if everyone here accepted the gospel there would be no more wars and contentions... He told us "I don't understand why people don't accept the gospel... they are refusing happiness it just doesn't make sense to me at all!" I've decided that Bishop and his wife are going to be the first senior couple for the Khmer people! They already have it down because every time Bishop's wife says something... bishop supports her and continues on bearing his own testimony! Plus right when we walked in the door bishop was telling us how he has been sick but because of the prayers of his beautiful wife he feels a lot better! I told them that when you come up we would go visit them :) You will love them! They have such an awesome family!

Saturday:

We saw Om Sokha and taught her about testimony to get her ready for her baptism on Sunday. We asked her why she wanted to be baptized and she told us. "I want to get baptized for my family... my family has had a lot of problems and I know that we can find happiness only through the gospel so I decided to get baptized so that we could join this church has a family" The spirit was so strong as she testified you can tell she loves her family a lot!

Then we saw Bong Sophia and taught her about the holy ghost. We tried to get her pumped up for her confirmation on Sunday! She is kind of at a loss for hope right now... but we testified to her that through the Holy Ghost God will comfort her and give her strength!
Then we saw Theara and taught her about testimony as well!

Sunday:

We saw Monika in the morning and taught about scripture study... I really love teaching Monika... before learning with us she had never heard about the scriptures... God... prophets you pretty much name it and she didn't know about it... this is her first encounter with the gospel and it's really amazing to watch... She is growing a lot! It's cool to see her grow and learn all of this! It's like teaching someone who they are and what their purpose is here, and what potential they have... it's really amazing...

2 BAPTISMS!!!! Wahoo Om Sokha and Theara were baptized the best part of the entire thing were their testimonies at the end. Om Sokha was just glowing! She said " I am just so happy... I feel so good... I know that God lives and when I pray to him and ask him for help with my family he truly does listen. I promise to follow him my entire life... I just feel so happy and light" It was so good she really did just have a light in her! Then Theara spoke and talked a bit about faith! She really does have a lot of Faith... she is only 14 and the only member of her family but she has been going to church for like 7 months now! She is such an example to them!

Oh and funny story so right at the beginning of sacrament meeting our investigator was supposed to be confirmed but was running late so bishop got up and started and then asked me from the pulpit if she was coming and i was like " she is on her way" and he said "what" so I said it a second time a little louder and he still didn't hear me so the third time and yelled and like four Mings I was sitting by yelled with me haha it was super funny :) Got to appreciate the help from the members haha!

Anyways that's really it for this week! Love you all Thanks for everything! I hope you have a good week!

ជីវិតបេសកកម្ម

Hello Everyone! Shout out to the Lady Braves for taking state!!! WAHOO!!! Nice work!! Now they need another one for basketball ;) can't wait to see it!
Good luck to Dylan and the football team! Go take state!

Monday:

Nothing too exciting just went to the phsaa and then worked on what we are teaching for MLC.

Tuesday:

We taught MLC we taught about culture respect and teaching in unity with your comp. It's really awesome for all of us American's to be able to come out to Cambodia, and learn about the culture here. I am so so grateful for it everyday! I love the people here, they are honestly some of the kindest people I have ever met! I love them and I love their culture! I am super grateful I am able to be here and learn about them! If I wouldn't have served I would have never know... I mean obviously you were there when I opened my mission call "do they speak spanish there?" haha I am super grateful I am able to be in this little treasure of a country and learn about the people here!
South Zone

After MLC we went and taught Bong Saophia and taught her lesson 3 but focused on repentance. We shared with her in DC 58:43, 32. It was what President taught about in MLC. We talked to her about how all she has to do is confess her sin and forsake them, which means to change. This past couple of weeks I have been studying a lot about repentance and it's honestly so amazing! I love that in the gospel we can always change and become better and in the words of Elder Holland " we get credit for trying even if we don't always succeed! " Over the course of my mission I really have come to realize just how perfect God's plan is! It really is perfect!

Then we saw Thera she is 14 years old and our investigator, she learned for about 7 months and hasn't gotten baptized because she is too young and doesn't have any support in the family, but we talked to President about it, because her parents are super supportive of it, and really really want to her to be baptized, and she has tons of friends in the church! Well he gave us permission, so during the lesson we told her she could be baptized she was so so excited it was so cool! I am so excited for her!

Wednesday:

We saw Om Somat in the morning and taught her about repentance but this time we shared with her in Nephi 26, when Nephi broke his bow, and Lehi started to murmur, and had to repent. She love the example, and really compared it to her life she said " yeah it's just like us... when are families are struggling and don't have enough food that is when we really have to trust in the Lord instead of murmuring and complaining... but when we do complain it's important we repent and turn to him again"
Exchange with Sister Lines

Then we saw Ming Juen now Ming Juen is an LA that hasn't been to church in 10 years... in fact she has a RM in her family and they are all LA... she said the first two years of her membership she never missed a day.. and then she missed one of two days in the month, and she stopped reading somedays and started forgeting to pray... until she stopped going to church at all, never read, and only occasionally prayed when she remembered to.... and now she has been less active for 10 years... it's crazy you know that is how Satan works he starts really subtle with the little things and before you know it... you aren't going to church at all... it's super sad... but we are trying to help her come back we shared in 2 Nephi 26:27-28 with her and tried to remind her of the happiness that she used to have when she went to church!

Them we saw Om Sokkha and tuaght her about the priestood! We are just getting her reading for baptism.

After that we saw Chadaen and taught her about fasting and tithing! It's actually turned into one of my favorite lessons to teach... I remember at the beginning of my mission I didn't like teaching about it, but now I love it! I think it's just because of all the miracles I have seen from it!

Thursday:

We saw Om Sokkha and taught about baptism and enduring to the end with her! Then we saw Om Siat... Om accidently inhaled some bug killer she was using when she was cleaning her house and has been really sick since.. and it had been a week... she went to a clinic to get medicine but they wouldn't give her any. So we asked if she wanted a priestood blessing and she said " well of course sisters I am sick and I need help so God can rescue me!" The Elder's came over and gave her a blessing, and literally 2 minutes after that she told us she felt loads better! the pounding in her head was gone... We testified that it was because of her faith, and I know it was because Om Siat has some seriously strong faith! Then we saw Thera and taught her about baptism and enduring to the end!

Friday:

We went on an Exchange. I went with Sister Lines! She is awesome! Just like the good old days of teaching together haha! It is cool to see how much she has improved! Everyone we tried to meet just kind of fell through so we saw Om Siat and tuaght her about the Priesthood!

Saturday:

We saw Monika a new investigator of ours and we taught lesson 1 which is my favorite lesson to teach! I just love teaching about Joseph Smith! It amazing, I love talking about him and how much faith he had... It's always one of my favorite things to watch the investigators face during the first vision... they just have this light in their eye... what we are telling them is amazing! The gospel is just amazing!

Sunday:

Well we got a little storm that came in from china I guess... haha so we had tons of rain all day... and we planned to search for CBRs all morning haha so that's what we did! We found the houses but other then that not too much luck... one house was locked and the other one just happened to have a girl with the same name living there but it "wasn't here" crazy though they looked sort of similiar haha... it's okay though.. one day!

After church Om Sokkha and Thera passed their baptism interviews so they will be getting baptized this week on Sunday :) wahoo miracles I am telling you! Also Bong Hiean who Sister Lines and I contacted in CKM is getting baptized in the next two weeks! It's amazing!

After that we had FHE at Om Sokkha's house it's amazing to see how that family has changed! They went to church together, and went we got to their house for FHE they were all just sitting there playing games together, and seemed so so happy! I love it... they have changed so so much since I've been there.. they just seem so much happier!

Well that is all for this week!
